Laughlin’s legal office is taking appointments for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program for eligible members, which include the military grades of E-1 to E-5 and O-1 to O-3 and retirees with simple returns.

"We ask that those interested call the legal office once they have all of their necessary tax documents,” said Capt. Douglas Hansen, 47th Flying Training Wing chief of military justice. "We will then assign the interested person a volunteer, and they will work together to schedule an appointment."

Services are free for eligible members, and there are also online services that give military members free tax services.

A couple of free online services are Military OneSource and www.militaryonesource.mil.

“This program gives eligible members an opportunity to have their taxes filed by those trained to do so for free,” said Hansen. "As a reminder, all taxes are due by April 15, but I would suggest making an appointment and getting them done as early as possible."

The legal office is still accepting volunteers interested in the tax assistance program.
