June Family Advocacy Classes

The 47th Medical Group is offering a series of free family advocacy classes open to all base personnel, ranging in topics from baby care to stress management classes, throughout the month of June.

 

-Dads 101: This class is for new dads and dads-to-be only and is taught by male instructor(s).  Curriculum is tailored from a man’s perspective and is designed to address his concerns as an expectant/new father.  The goal of Dads 101 is to provide skills training in caring for your newborn.

 

June 1, 2016

47th MDG Training Room

6 to 8 p.m.

 

-Obstetrics Orientation and Bundles for Babies: This class is an overview of what to expect during pregnancy.  Participants will receive information related to the prenatal period, labor and delivery, and post-partum.  Dads are encouraged to attend. This class is mandatory for all pregnant active duty members.

 

June 7, 2016

47th MDG Training Room

8:30 to 12 p.m.

 

-Teen Talk: This class will examine some of the issues teenagers face.  Topics include:  cyber bullying, building communication, wellness, abusive relationships, and other topics which will interest teens.  Youth do not have to be enrolled at the Youth Center to attend.

 

June 10, 2016

Youth Center

6 to 7 p.m.

 

-Second Trimester Class: This class provides information related to the second trimester. Handouts will be provided and dads are encouraged to attend.  

 

June 14, 2016

9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

 

-Stress Management: In this course, participants will learn to identify triggers to stress, appropriate techniques for relaxation and visualization skills to handle stress.

 

June 16, 2016

Mental Health Conference Room

8 to 9 a.m.

 

-Breastfeeding Basics: This class provides basic education on breastfeeding.  Handouts will be provided and dads are welcome to attend.

 

June 21, 2016

47th MDG Training Room

9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

 

-Finding Mr/Mrs Right: This exciting workshop for singles will focus on knowing what to look for in a person you are dating and how to create a healthy and strong relationship from the beginning. 

 

June 23, 2016

47th MDG Training Room

5:30 to 7 p.m.

 

To sign-up for a class, call 298-6422. You must register in order to attend each class. Classes are cancelled the night prior if there are no participants signed up.
