Organizers, mentors and supporters for the 47th Medical Operations Squadron’s family advocacy program gather at the Losano Fitness Center at Laughlin Air Force Base, Texas, Jan. 10, 2017. The family advocacy program offers courses designed to manage any types of stress, to channeling emotions of anger into happiness, or to help expecting or current parents gather more ideas to further ensure their children’s success, the classes are designed to help make life both easier and more fruitful. Recognizing life situations in the professional and personal environments, the 47th Medical Operations Squadron has organized several classes under the family advocacy program.

The Laughlin Commissary held the Healthy Lifestyle Festival at Laughlin Air Force Base, June 13, 2017. This event focused on giving families different resources that would help them live a healthy lifestyle. 20 organizations such as the Airman and Family Readiness Center, Fit Bar and base health exercise physiology office, participated in managing displays that provided educational material to the Airmen and their families. To increase access to care, the Defense Department is launching an Urgent Care Pilot Program for TRICARE Prime beneficiaries. This program allows Prime enrollees two visits to a network or TRICARE-authorized provider without a referral or prior authorization.
