October 2015

Month of October:

  1. Is there any way we can have pets in the dorms like lizards, gerbils, that type of thing?

In LAFBI 48-104 you’ll see that the only pets that are permitted are fish.  According to our Medical Group experts, there are a number of reasons for this.  The biggest concern is ensuring the health and safety of all Airmen living in the dorms.  There are numerous areas that are shared living spaces, and those smaller animals potentially can produce allergens or carry other diseases that affect our Airmen.

  2. I wanted to know why the Subway is the only place on base to charge tax.

The Subway franchisee has a contract with AAFES and does not legally qualify for tax exclusion as a commercial entity. I would like to figure out a way to get to yes, but unfortunately at this point, my hands are tied on this one.

  3. In my opinion there are far too many reserved parking spots on base. Yard of the month? Ass't Flt Commander? Can this issue be addressed?

Reserved parking spots on base are regulated by an AFI and are not to exceed 10%. Right now Laughlin is at roughly 5%, but looking around I couldn’t agree more.  Currently we have the MSG teaming up with multiple agencies to work together to free up more spaces around the base.
