A new edition to the 47th Security Forces Squadron has its patrolmen buzzing with excitement and will have a large part in making Laughlin members safer.

Four brand new official vehicles, three Chevrolet Impalas and a Chevrolet pick-up, decked out in thousands of dollars worth of equipment were delivered by Col. Michael Frankel, 47th Flying Training Wing commander, and Chief Master Sgt. Mike Hanning, 47th FTW command chief, among others to the 47th SFS Sept. 13.

"These are the best looking, best equipped Security Forces vehicles I have seen in my career, and I have heard quite a few of our folks say the same," said Capt. Raymond Fortner, 47th SFS operations officer.

Senior Airman Amber Hunt, 47th SFS, said that the new vehicles are equipped with efficient light and siren systems, as well as mobile radios and public address systems.

Airman Hunt added that each new patrol vehicle is equipped with an M4 gun rack and sealed emergency equipment bags. Each vehicle also has brand new partitions, operational spot lights on both the sides of the vehicle and on the light bar, radar systems and push bumpers.

"Our job as patrolman and entry controllers is to make sure the installation is protected and that individuals driving on the installation are driving safely," said Airman Hunt. "There were constant electrical issues with most of the retired vehicles which kept patrolman from being able to accomplish their duties."

Colonel Frankel said the vehicles were a small token to show how much 47th SFS is appreciated by Laughlin's leadership. During his visit, he also presented Senior Airman (select) Gregory Booth, 47th SFS, with his new senior airman stripes after he was selected as Senior Airman Below-the-Zone. The BTZ program allows select Airmen to advance in rank to senior airman six months early.

Capt. Fortner said that Tech. Sgt. Robert Spencer, 47th SFS, Joe Jaso, Tony Mojica and Manuel Rodriguez, all the 47th Logistics Readiness Division, were all instrumental in the obtaining of the new cars.

"The new vehicles are a very nice addition to our squadron and everyone should benefit from them tremendously," said Airman Hunt.
