Mexico travel restrictions further eased Published Nov. 3, 2006 By Kent Cummins 47th FTW Public Affairs LAUGHLIN AFB, TEXAS -- Col. Mike Minahan, 47th Flying Training Wing commander, has further eased travel restrictions to Mexico. Effective immediately, Laughlin Air Force Base military members may once again travel to and remain in Mexico until 1:30 a.m. when they must be back on American soil. However, Airmen under the age of 26 must be back at 8 p.m. unless they first process a Laughlin Form 29B with their chain of command. Additionally, "Boys Town" in Ciudad Acuna remains off limits. All Laughlin personnel, whether military, civil service, contractor or family member, are advised to exercise due caution, as always, to maintain their safety. For current Mexico travel advisories, contact Air Force Office of Special Investigations at 298-5158. Information on out-of-country travel also can be obtained from the State Department's web page at http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_tw/tw/tw_1764.html. On June 9, Colonel Minahan had placed the cities of Ciudad Acuna and Piedras Negras, adjacent to Del Rio and Eagle Pass, Texas, respectively, off limits to all military personnel because of a criminal incident in Ciudad Acuna. On June 30, the commander modified the restriction to allow visits during daylight hours.
