Laughlin donated over 10,400 pounds of food items to help feed hungry families in the surrounding communities as part of their 6th annual Feds Feed Families campaign.

The Feds Feed Families campaign was created by the Defense Commissary Agency to give commissary customers and government employees the opportunity to donate non-perishable items to the local community's food banks.

All of the contributions were taken directly to Loaves and Fishes, a local food bank, Sept. 10.

"Monthly, Loaves and Fishes ensures more than 1,240 local families do not go hungry, this includes approximately 2,120 adults and 1,110 children," said Maj. Christopher Perkins, 87th Flying Training Squadron assistant director of operations.

This year, the 87th Flying Training Squadron contributed to half of Laughlin's entire donation.

"We made it fun by doing a raffle within our squadron," said 1st Lt. Jordan Sheffer, 85th Flying Training Squadron instructor pilot. "I raffled off a few gift card and two hours of flying time donated by a pilot with private owned aircraft," "I am proud of the motivation the 85th FTS showed, and the eagerness to support the cause."

With only 10 days of collecting food donations, Laughlin nearly matched last year's donation of over 10,800 pounds, which was collected in nearly six weeks.
