Staff Sgt. Katrina McGee, 47th Logistics Readiness Squadron plans and integration NCOIC, was chosen by wing leadership to be this week’s “XLer,” Aug. 14.

The “XLer” award, presented by Col. Michelle Pryor, 47th Flying Training Wing vice commander, is presented to those who consistently make outstanding contributions to their unit and Laughlin’s mission.

“One of our priorities on Laughlin is to deploy mission ready warriors,” said Pryor. “If it wasn’t for the hard work Sergeant McGee has done, we would not have met that goal.”

McGee analyzed over thirty separate deployment data logs and identified ten critical tasking changes. By processing these changes and papers, she helped Airmen depart for their deployments on time and without any extra issue.

“The most common issues are ensuring the tasked deployed member has all their training completed, pre-deployment checklist is completed and the member is cleared by medical,” said McGee. “All these steps are crucial for the member in order for them to be fully prepared and ready to deploy once tasked.”

She also scheduled flights for 38 Airmen to their deployment locations. She also ensured that all the deployed left and made their flights on time; ensuring no errors or issues fore-reporting.

“One instance which proved to be challenging was getting a member with a short notice deployment to Field Craft Hostile training in time,” said McGee. “Working with the unit deployment manager and their functional area manager we were able to schedule the member in an already full class.”

McGee also monitored the wing’s deployment readiness tools, which tracked and matched over two hundred unit type codes with tasking down range. This not only keeps in line with immediate, seamless deployment but also ensures critical, expeditionary roles are filled.

“Deploying is a big step for any member,” said McGee. “It is extremely important that all personnel who are slotted to deploy in their [Air Expeditionary Force] Period band are able and eligible to deploy to fill that requirement.”

To McGee, deploying mission ready warriors is not only a wing priority but a self-priority as well. Her initiatives and innovative, hard work in helping her wing deploy Airmen is why she won this week’s XLer.
