Five combatants from the Global War on Terrorism, who are also members of the 47th Security Forces Squadron, returned home after seven months away Nov. 15.

Staff Sgt. Martin Ferguson, Airmen 1st Class Marisel Kigembe, Joshua Prange, Jacob Southall and Gregory Booth returned from Al Udeid Air Base in Southwest Asia where they provided base security.

Sergeant Ferguson said they brought back more than just the lessons they learned in base security.

"It was a different animal. A great experience," said Sergeant Ferguson, who supervised 27 people for the first time in his career. "It was a good experience for me, and a good experience for the team."

Their boss, Capt. Ian Dinesen, 47th Security Forces Squadron commander, who took over the squadron while the five were gone, said he's glad to have them back.

"We've got members all over the globe right now and others getting ready to deploy, but it's an especially good feeling when you get squadron members back safe and sound," said Dinesen.
