Why he XLed: He was the lead planner and overall mastermind for the Red Devil Charity Golf Tournament which netted more than $30,000 for the Wounded Warrior Project. Thompson coordinated with numerous agencies, on- and off-base, to support the endeavor, as well as reached out for PGA support and donations for a silent auction at Club XL following the golf tournament. He trains all new instructor pilots from pilot instructor training prior to their local mission certification with squadron commander. He is also one of only five IPs qualified to teach T-6 Advanced Handling Characteristic Sorties.
