Unit and job title: 85th Flying Training Squadron assistant director of training

Why he XLed: Bucey spearheaded a five-day recruiting initiative, educating 437 students from 11 organizations on Air Force programs. The Air Force Recruiting Service commander praised his report detailing the recruitment as the best he had seen in his 37 years of service. Additionally, Bucey instructed seven theater indoctrination flights and led advanced handling characteristic and uncontrolled aircraft upgrades ahead of schedule, ensuring new instructor pilots were comfortable in the Laughlin airspace and understood the maximum performance capabilities of the T-6A Texan II. Finally, as the officer in charge of Egress, Bucey oversaw 30 hours of training, resulting in zero egress mishaps at the sixth busiest airfield in the Air Force.
