The Losano Fitness Center held the second annual ‘FitFamilies Health Fair & Expo’ on Laughlin Air Force Base, Texas, March 22, 2017.

The expo was aimed at bringing people together and promoting different ways to stay healthy by featuring various on-base and off-base agencies.

“We had a really good turnout,” said Chelsy Larson, the Fitness Program Manager. With approximately 175 people coming to the expo, Larson said it was even bigger than last year’s expo; and she plans to have 2018’s turnout best this year’s.

Different agencies from Laughlin’s Fit Bar to the Val Verde County Medical Center were given a chance to showcase what they have to offer; some with samples of product, and some with educational demonstrations.

The event also gave attendees an opportunity to tour the Losano Fitness Center with staff members available to answer any questions that came up.

Master Sgt. Jose Cruzbarbosa, 47th Security Forces Squadron section chief, said the expo gave him an opportunity to see what resources and programs are available in the local area that he wasn’t aware of.

“I enjoyed the expo,” said Cruzbarbosa. “It is one of the best ways to ensure personnel are aware of the different resources and programs available on base and in the local community.”

Larson said next year the fitness center plans to expand on the expo, opening up more opportunities to get youth involved, offering more exhibits and hopefully attracting more guests.

“Myself and the Losano Fitness Center staff along with Team FSS did a great job and we worked hard putting this expo together for the community,” said Larson. “We’re all looking forward to next year.”
