Team XL is invited to participate in the 40th annual George Paul Memorial Bull Riding competition April 28 and 29 at 8 p.m. at the Val Verde County Fairgrounds.

Some of the top professional bull riders from across the U.S., including five past champions, will be on hand to compete during the nationally televised two-day event.

The event is in remembrance of former world champion bull rider George Paul, a Del Rio native, who once made qualified rides on 79 bulls in a row, which has never been done before – nor has it been done since, said Bobby Paul, George Paul Memorial Bull Riding producer.

The George Paul Memorial Bull Riding competition is the longest running bull riding event in the nation, and this year’s event is expected to bring approximately 8,000 people to the stands, said Paul.

Saturday night is Laughlin Night, explained Paul. “It’s a tribute to the fighting men and women in the service here at Laughlin,” he said.
“Laughlin has been here for quite a while and has helped [Del Rio] a ton. The town appreciates the base being here.”

Team XL members interested in attending Saturday night have a special reserved grandstand section set aside for the event and discounted tickets. Tickets are marked down from $30 to $25, and groups who purchase nine tickets will receive the 10th one free. Tickets can be purchased by contacting the GPMBR office at 775-9595.
