Why he XLed: Capt. Richard Loesch led military training route reviews, streamlining the review to be 75 percent more efficient than last year for 48 members in four different squadrons. Loesch put in 48 flight hours into covering 23 unique training routes, surveying more than 29,000 square nautical miles, securing valuable airspace not only for AETC, but for any Air Force aircraft. He also identified 44 new/unmarked structures and 12 airfields in the surrounding area, writing out 17 map changes, keeping XL pilots safe. Loesch secured four military training routes that were slated for closure, expanding Laughlin’s training capabilities by 37 percent. Lastly, Loesch identified an annual shortfall due to weather, penning contingency operations for the 2018 calendar year for on-time completion.
