XLer of the Week: Senior Airman Evan Antons

Senior Airman Evan Antons, aviation resource management journeyman, was chosen by the 47th Flying Training Wing leadership to be this week’s “XLer,” Aug. 14.

The “XLer” award, presented by Col. Michelle Pryor, 47th FTW vice commander, is presented to those who consistently make outstanding contributions to their unit and Laughlin’s mission.

Antons, a physical training leader for the 85th Flying Training Squadron, lead weekly PT regiments for six separate flights, which lead to a 51 percent increase in their overall fitness levels.

“Some of the changes in the PT regiment that I helped with was the accountability of the Airmen when it came to their fitness and also helped members with their fitness goals,” Antons said. “One of [the Airmen] actually received an excellent in their overall score.”

He also helped his unit’s supervision by not only proctoring an Airmen’s career development course exam reviews and pre-tests, but helped increase the quality of training as well.

“I helped with the consistency of their training and made sure that the Airmen stayed on task when it came to their study skills and kept them accountable for their CDCs and also all of their on the job training,” said Antons.

Lastly, he spearheaded the restoration of his work center, volunteering nine hours of his time to painting and modernizing their facility, which fostered team pride and increased camaraderie amongst his peers.

“All the members of the squadron who noticed the change and fixtures that were made in our back office,” said Antons.

For helping his unit prepare deployable ready warriors both professionally and physically, and for improving the productivity and quality-of-life of his unit’s workplace, Evan Antons was awarded this week’s “XLer.”
