Aliyah Negley, 47th Flying Training Wing community support coordinator, was chosen by wing leadership to be “XLer of the week”, for the week of Dec. 13, 2017.

The “XLer” award, presented by Col. Charlie Velino, 47th Flying Training Wing wing commander, is given to those who consistently make outstanding contributions to their unit and the Laughlin mission.

Negley worked with agencies from within the base, the local community and even command level to keep Laughlin’s disaster mental health and alternate dispute resolution programs on track.

“The purpose of both of these programs is to meet people at their point of crisis, make them aware of the resources available and then help to facilitate the healing process,” Negley said. “These elements are also force multiplier[s]--if people are resilient, more specifically, able to cope and work through their issues, then they will be a better asset to the mission and a better wingman to their peers.”

She also led the wing through the community action board teleconference, partnering with the 47th Force Support Squadron to hold the wing’s Fall Bash, aimed at keeping Laughlin’s Airmen resilient.

“One of the most enjoyable aspects of the Fall Bash was the collaboration,” she said. “That is also one of the things I enjoy most about my job; I am blessed with the opportunity to work with amazing people and agencies every day in discovering new ways to both support Laughlin's mission and to take care of Team XL Airmen.”

As the community support coordinator, Negley is responsible for taking care of the base’s health and wellness initiatives, and she said she is excited to come in to work every day.

“I am thankful to God for giving me not only a passion to serve others, but also the wonderful opportunity to serve Team XL and Del Rio everyday with amazing people,” Negley said. “I am also thankful for an awesome, supportive family.”

For her efforts toward keeping Laughlin Airmen resilient and fit to fight, Aliyah Negley earned herself the “XLer of the week” award.
