LAUGHLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Texas — Second Lt. Bailey Moreland, 47th Contracting Flight, contract specialist, a native of Cleveland, Ohio, is new to the military and to life at Laughlin Air Force Base, Texas.

Moreland chose to join the military to serve her country, which motives her numerous goals in her Air Force career.

As a new officer in contracting who has high aspirations, Moreland assists in selecting contract sources, negotiating terms and ensuring contract compliance.

“I really enjoy the direct impact I see [from contracting],” Moreland said. “My first buy was the tactical training box near the gym. I helped the contracting officer purchase that, and it’s really awesome to drive past and see everyone using it.”

Another project she is tackling is to become a unit deployment manager in order to play a key role in deploying Laughlin members, impacting the Air Force mission worldwide.

“I believe we’re in the military to deploy and to aid others, both stateside and overseas,” Moreland said. “It’s awesome to live in a country where we’re able to help not only our own citizens but other countries as well.”

Moreland says the goals she has now and the goals that are yet to come are going to help her Air Force career by keeping her focused and motivated down the right path.
