For Senior Airman, soon-to-be Staff Sgt., June Bell, 47th Medical Group patient travel office NCO in charge, every day at the office is a chance for her to do the two things she loves the most: serve her country and take care of people.

“It’s more than Airman Bell—I get to be June,” Bell said. “That, for me, is the most rewarding factor. I’ve chosen to volunteer and give my time and my life to something that embraces who I am in and out of this uniform.”

According to Bell, her day-to-day consists of helping ensure pilots are healthy and fit enough to fly, referring Airmen to nearby hospitals for specialized care, and handling the clinic’s administrative work.

“That’s how we keep our planes in the air — we keep our pilots healthy,” Bell said. “I have a job to do effectively and efficiently, to make sure in the bigger picture, Laughlin’s mission of graduating the world’s best military pilots keeps going.”

In addition to her daily duties, she is a part of Laughlin’s revolutionary Class Medic program. The program, which assigns medical personnel to undergraduate pilot training classes, aims to give the student pilots a liaison to help them receive any medical care they may need in a more forthcoming manner.

Bell describes her work ethic as one that empowers herself and others to complete the Laughlin mission by being a “generator:” a constant source of positive and reinforcing energy that listens keenly to the issues and utilizes all possible resources to solve the problem.

“It starts with yourself, and from yourself, you become that generator for everyone else,” Bell said. “It catches on like wildfire!”

The first step to be that “generator” for one’s work center, as Bell describes, is not only the simplest step, but the biggest start.

“Smile, always smile,” Bell exclaimed. “No matter what’s going on, you’re going to get through the day!”
