LAUGHLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Staff Sgt. Robert Madison, 47th Flying Training Wing NCO in charge of wing administration, was chosen by wing leadership to be the “XLer of the week” of Feb. 17, 2020 at Laughlin Air Force Base, Texas.
Madison has been actively seeking out programs, processes and office improvements to better provide support to wing leadership and Wing Staff Agency members.
“One of the things we’ve been working on is the office itself,” Madison said. “When I first got here, this office was more of a storage facility. We brought a little bit of what we do here in Laughlin into our office, and it makes it more than just an office.”
In addition, Madison volunteered to lead the February Single Laughlin Airmen Meal event for WSA which provides free meals to unaccompanied Airmen every month.
“There are some challenging situations that come up, like scheduling for the commander and the chief,” Madison said. “But you find the right times and people can get there to support the team.”
Madison also handled having to learn programs and processes and then immediately supervise and teach what he has learned to others.
“That can be challenging on its own, but sometimes you just have to pick up a book and read,” Madison said. “I don’t have all the answers, but what’s important is that the answers are out there, you just need to find them or find who knows them to make things work right.”
Madison has earned this “XLer of the week” for improving his office and processes, training peers and subordinates and planning and supervising the lead up to the February SLAM dinner.
