When the holiday season is over and your tree needs to find a new home along with other recyclable goods, the Laughlin Recycling Center is here for you.

The recycling center is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and has two locations on base depending on what you are recycling.

"Families in Laughlin Family Housing are encouraged to use their recycling cans over the holidays," said Ron Widrig, 47th Civil Engineer Squadron environmental assistant. "If your recycling cans are overflowing though, feel free to bring them to the recycling center."

According to 2nd Lt. Katy Deiters, 47th Civil Engineer Squadron environmental management system coordinator, normal recyclable goods such as cardboard, wrapping paper, glass, aluminum, tin and plastics numbered one and two can be dropped off at the main recycling center located on Arkansas Street, building 2018.

Christmas trees with all ornaments and decorations removed can be deposited at the compost yard which is located off of Fourth Street, building 801. Please do not bring trees to the recycling center said Deiters.

Widrig said that if you do drop off items at the recycling center, they need to be secure. A secure box should not be easily blown open by the wind. If your recycling is not secure and the wind picks up, it will blow items away from the recycling center. Widrig also asked residents to not dump garbage off at the recycling center.

Deiters provided a reminder that not everything can be recycled; items such as styrofoam, and cellophane wrapping paper should be disposed of in the garbage.

Widrig asked for members of Team XL to "please recycle" for the holiday season.
