Team XL's patriotism was on display at Laughlin's Heritage Park Sept. 16 after 37 Airmen of different ranks stood vigil over a prisoner of war/missing in action wreath throughout the day.

Airmen and civilians also came together for a retreat ceremony to remember the sacrifices of POW and the veterans that never came home.

"I wanted to participate because I feel that we should honor POWs and MIAs and never forget these people that have made such great sacrifices for our country," said Senior Airman Cody Webb, 47th Medical Support Squadron.

Tech. Sgt. Robert Spencer, 47th Security Force Squadron, said he wanted to be a part of the events to remind the missing member's family that their brothers and sisters in arms have not forgotten their sacrifice and show appreciation to those still missing.

"I feel it is very important for people to participate in these events and continue remembering and being thankful for everything that the servicemembers before us have done to make our lives and this country better since we cannot look these people in the eye and thank them," Webb said.

While remembering and honoring those that came before him, Webb noted that it is his duty to carry on what they had begun.

"They gave more than most of us can imagine," Webb said. "We should make sure these people are not forgotten about because without their sacrifices, we would not be where we are today. Our country is strong today because of the sacrifices made by those before us and our country is growing stronger because of the ones who are making sacrifices for us today."
