Cactus Lanes Bowling Center introduced new technology to the Laughlin community Aug. 1.

Bowlers now have the opportunity to play a bowling video game with a remote-controlled ball. The ball will be offered to Laughlin through Aug. 22.

"The remote-controlled ball was originally introduced four years ago to help the handicapped to bowl. The ball is placed on a ramp and controlled with a remote to move it left and right. It's a lot of fun and can get pretty addicting once you get the hang of it," said Jimmy Hedtkamp, bowling center manager.

The cost per game of bowling is $2, which includes the price of the remote-controlled ball. Games with the ball are on a first-come-first-served basis.

"When I first heard about the remote-controlled ball, I was astonished by how it worked. It's a great invention for everyone," said Sylvia Garcia, bowling center recreational aid.

After playing ten games using the remote-controlled ball, bowlers will be eligible to enter the three-game Lazy Bowl tournament scheduled for Aug. 22. The winners of the tournament will be announced Aug. 26.

"We hope to have 20 to 30 participants for the tournament, but everyone is welcome to participate. The first and second place winners of the tournament will each win a recliner," said Hedtkamp.
