Three workshops with the aim of helping to better the lives of Laughlin members are being offered here during the months of June and July.

A stress management workshop will be taught at Laughlin's Mental Health Clinic by members of the 47th Medical Group.

According to www.mayoclinic.com, stress may cause physical problems such as lowering one's immune system, heart problems or depression.

"Stress is an inevitable part of life and taking a stress management workshop could be very beneficial to one's health," said Capt. Julia Vanover, 47th Medical Operations Squadron.

A sleep-enhancement class is also taught at Laughlin's Medical Clinic. Capt. Katie Ragan, 47th MDOS, said it is not uncommon to feel sleepy during the day, but this can be avoided if the right steps are taken. The sleep enhancement class provides all the necessary knowledge to have an effective sleeping plan.

"Sleep problems are very common for folks nowadays. In this class, effective techniques that can give people a good night's sleep without medication are taught," said Captain Ragan.

A third workshop, which deals with relationships, is being taught at Laughlin's chapel. This class gives tips on how to recognize all different types of personalities. What you learn in this class could be useful when meeting potential partners, said Captain Vanover.

"People who are single and want to be in a healthy relationship can really benefit from this workshop," said Captain Vanover.

These three classes are meant to improve the quality of life for Laughlin members and those who attend may learn tips that can be useful for a lifetime, said Captain Ragan, who teaches both the stress management and sleep enhancement classes. Captain Vanover teaches the relationship workshop.

Even though classes have already begun, signing up does not take long and those who are interested can show up to the next meeting. These classes are open to all military, civilian and dependent adults.
