The 47th Operations Support Squadron gained a new commander during its change of command ceremony Feb. 11.

Lieutenant Col. Michael Brockey, now the 47th Operations Group deputy commander, relinquished command of the 47th OSS to Lt. Col. John Binder, the new 47th OSS commander.

Colonel Craig Wills, 47th OG commander, presided over the ceremony.

Lieutenant Col. Brockey had been in charge of the 47th OSS since May of 2009. He is now serving in the position of 47th OG deputy commander.

"Lieutenant Col. Brockey has run this squadron the absolute best way it could be run," said Col. Wills.

Lieutenant Col. Binder worked as the operations officer for the 85th Flying Training Squadron since Aug. of 2009 and as the director of staff for the 47th Flying Training Wing since Sept. of 2010.

"There is no finer officer in the Air Force today than Lt. Col. Binder," said Col. Wills.

Both Lt. Col Brockey's and Lt. Col. Binder's families were in attendance as well as about 150 members of the 47th OSS.
