The Landings at Laughlin, a new multi-purpose community center located at 8550 Edwards St., opened here Jan. 26.

According to Julie Akers, the center's community director, the new facility is more than just a building. Just outside one will find tennis courts, a soccer field, a volleyball court, a jogging trail and a gazebo.

"The Pinnacle office is in the new building and the housing management team will be joining us soon," said Akers. "With us partnering at the same location, we will be a one-stop shop for our residents."

Akers also said that the center will be available to host resident's personal parties and functions as well as Pinnacle business functions.

"When my wife and I lived downtown we didn't have a central place to go," said Senior Airman Austen Kent, 47th Installation Support Squadron. "Now, with the community center here we have a place to go with any questions or concerns. It's much more personal."

Pinnacle manages the 534 privatized housing units at Laughlin. Military members' rent does not exceed the Basic Allowance for Housing at the appropriate rate for the designated military pay grade, minus an amount sufficient to cover 110 percent of average estimated utility charges. Rent includes trash collection, water, sewer and common area grounds maintenance.
