Celebrating Independence Day with a rodeo Published June 26, 2015 By Airman 1st Class Brandon May 47th Flying Training Wing Public Affairs Laughlin Air Force Base, Texas -- The 2015 Independence Day Rodeo is scheduled for July 3 and 4 at the Val Verde Fairgrounds in Del Rio, Texas. The rodeo, which is hosted by the Rotary Club of Del Rio, has set aside 500 free tickets for the members of Laughlin. These tickets are currently being passed out by 1st Sgts. and the outdoor recreation office. Admission for attendees 18 and older is $10 at the gate, and $5 if purchased in advance. Children 17 and under will receive free admission. "This event is the year's major fundraiser," said Cheryl Johnson, rodeo chair person. "The money will contribute to a $10,000 scholarship for Del Rio high school students." The gate opens at 6:30 p.m., and the event starts at 8 p.m. on both nights. No outside food or drinks are permitted, but their will be concession stands on site. The Independence Day Rodeo will also include a performance by the Escaramuzas. "The rodeo is a very family-oriented event, it's a great way to spend Fourth of July and see the fireworks all at once," said Johnson.
