LAUGHLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Texas --

Job title and unit: 85th Flying Training Squadron, T-6A Texan II instructor pilots

Why they XLed: The team of 85th FTS instructor pilots, consisting of 1st Lt. Tyler Byrd, 1st Lt. Derek Fiebig, 1st Lt. Paul Homsher and 1st Lt. Brady Jackson, were hand selected to plan and execute the Pilot for a Day program. This program allows local children with serious to life-threatening illnesses and their families to tour the base and experience life as an Air Force member. The team dedicated 84 hours to coordinate with 21 local organizations and a translator. They ensured a memorable time for an 11-year-old boy who was diagnosed with autism.
