Del Rio hosted the annual Abrazo Ceremony, celebrating the 56th anniversary of the signing of the Amistad Dam treaty by U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower and Mexican President Adolfo Lopez Mateos on Oct. 24, 1960. The Abrazo, which means to embrace in Spanish, is an annual tradition that symbolizes the friendship between Mexico and the U.S.
