SUPT Traditions of Flight
Just prior to 2nd Lt. Jun Liang Tan, 47th Student Squadron, making his first solo flight in a T-6 Texan II, his instructor pilot, Capt. Brian Staniszewski, 434th Flying Training Squadron, replaces Tan’s name patch with his own. The gesture is a long-standing tradition of military aviation, symbolizing that the instructor pilot is willing to trust the student with his own reputation. (U.S. Air Force photo/2nd Lt. Daniel Brand)
