BALAD AIR BASE, Iraq
BALAD AIR BASE, Iraq -- Laughlin Airman 1st Class Danielle Gorrell, deployed to the 332nd Air Expeditionary Wing at Balad Air Base, Iraq, maintains control of her aircraft during a shift at the Center Enroute Radar Approach Control, or CERAP, here. On average, these Airmen control as many as 20 aircraft at once. Approximately 10,000 aircraft are controlled in a given week including cargo, fighter, rotary wing and unmanned aerial vehicles. Balad Air Base has the busiest single-runway operation in the Department of Defense. (U.S. Air Force photo)
