National Prayer Luncheon

LAUGHLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Airman 1st Class Dennis Reuter, 47th Medical Group, plays the djembe, an African drum played by hand, at the National Prayer Luncheon April 2 at Club XL. More than 100 people attended the luncheon, where Chaplain (Maj. Gen.) Cecil Richardson, chief of Air Force chaplains, spoke. A number of local civic leaders attended the event that has a history that reaches back to President Dwight Eisenhower’s administration who was responsible for starting the annual event in 1953.
