LAUGHLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Texas – Todd Schroeder, 47th Flying Training Wing historian, displays 2nd Lt. Jack Thomas Laughlin’s nearly 70 year-old cold weather flight jacket here Aug. 4. The base was named after Lieutenant Laughlin, a Del Rio native, who was killed over Java in the South Pacific during the early days of World War II. Mr Schroeder’s job as the wing historian is to preserve and record history, ensuring Laughlin and Air Force members can look back and find any information needed for years to come.
