Half-staff

Laughlin Air Force Base’s installation flag rests at half-staff at a Sept. 11 remembrance retreat ceremony here, Sept. 11, 2014. When a flag is at half-staff, it is one-half the distance between the top and bottom of the staff and symbolizes respect or mourning for a significant individual(s) or event.
