Airman’s Spotlight: Capt. John Johnson

Capt. John Johnson, a 47th Student Squadron first assignment instructor pilot, holds up the classic FAIP patch, a symbol of tradition, responsibility and success—a charge to train the Air Force’s even newer aviators so early in their own careers. The 47th Flying Training Wing at Laughlin Air Force Base, Texas, retains some Specialized Undergraduate Pilot Training graduates to supplement the ranks of their own instructor pilot corps, affectionately referred to as “FAIP Mafia.” (U.S. Air Force graphic by Senior Airman Anne McCready)
