  • Laughlin confirms performers for “Fiesta of Flight” Open House

    Fiesta of Flight officials announced the lineup of military aircraft coming to Laughlin for the region’s premier Air Force Open House May 12. The event’s headliner will be the United States Air Force Aerial Demonstration Squadron, known as the Thunderbirds.
  • Laughlin safety, Union Pacific caution drivers crossing railroads

    Drivers who travel Liberty Drive may have noticed a car in the vehicle resale lot that looks like a crushed soda can. After a train hits a perfectly good car, it is little better than an old soda can. Union Pacific Railroad purchased the car, hit by a train near Fort Worth, Texas, and it serves as a visual reminder that trains are in fact bigger than cars.
  • Bowling center expansion underway

    Cactus Lanes Bowling Center plans to reopen early-April after completing its first step of its three phase plan, here. Bowling center’s renovation is planned out in three phases: installing a larger dining area, expanding the kitchen and providing a reimagined bowling area.

  • Laughlin celebrates African American Heritage Month

    Laughlin’s African American Heritage Month has been a great success, according to event organizers. African American Heritage Month, formerly known as “Negro History Week,” and later expanded in the 1960s following the success of the civil rights movement, is an annual celebration of African American achievements and impact in U.S. History.
  • XLer of the week: Airman 1st Class Chansol Kim

    Airman 1st Class Chansol Kim, 47th Medical Support Squadron referral management technician, was chosen by wing leadership to be the XLer of the week, for the week of Feb. 12, 2018, at Laughlin Air Force Base, Texas. The XLer award, presented by Col. Charlie Velino, 47th Flying Training Wing commander, is given to those who consistently make outstanding contributions to their unit and the Laughlin mission.

    All Laughlin members are invited to attend a graduation ceremony for Specialized Undergraduate Pilot Training Class 18-05, at 10 a.m., here, in Anderson Hall, Feb. 16, 2018.Maj. Gen. John F. Nichols, Adjutant General of Texas., will be the guest speaker. Awards and special recognition will be given to outstanding graduates.
  • A larger community in the making

    Nearly two years ago, a series of storms with 60 mph winds dropped golf ball-sized hail, which severely damaged roofs, vehicles, siding and fences at Laughlin. Now, Laughlin Family Housing has recovered all of the units and is at 99 percent occupancy. Even through difficult times, the family housing staff are determined to ensure residents receive the best quality support.
