  • Laughlin grooms civilian leaders with ALS opportunity

    Airman Leadership School is a five-week course that teaches junior enlisted Airmen leadership, management, and duties of the Air Force’s non-commissioned officer tier. Earlier this year, the opportunity arose for civilians to take the course, the 47th Maintenance Directorate at Laughlin Air Force Base, Texas, wasted no time sending five civil service maintainers. Five maintainers were part of ALS class 19-F, and learned how to be a better leader and civil servant, but also how they fit into the total force concept.

  • National Insider Threat Awareness Month (Are You Prepared)

    September was National Insider Threat Awareness month. “Developing insider threat awareness, is about enabling employees to recognize the indicators to deter, detect, and mitigate actions by insiders who may represent a threat to national security,” said Garry Reid, the DoD Director for Defense Intelligence. The indicators of an insider threat can be divided into risk factors and warning behaviors. The first group can be further sub-divided into either static (dispositional) or dynamic factors.

  • Maj. Gen. Leavitt visits Laughlin once again

    LAUGHLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Texas – On the same day Laughlin introduces 11 new, combat ready military aviators into the ranks of the world’s greatest Air Force, Maj. Gen. Jeannie Leavitt, the Air Forces Recruiting Service commander and command pilot, visited Laughlin Air Force Base, Texas. However, she didn’t come empty handed for the new aviators. This Laughlin graduate and “hometown hero” brought with her 26 years of experience that all started right here, and spanned to see her become the U.S. Air Force’s first female fighter pilot and first female commander of a combat fighter wing.
