The Laughlin Officers' Spouses' Club hosted their annual fall festival at Laughlin's Fam Camp Oct. 17.

"The festival is just one of the LOSC's many ways to raise money each year," said Shannon Ambroson, LOSC first vice president and festival co-chair. "The money raised goes into the club's charitable fund, which is used to benefit the Laughlin and Del Rio communities in a number of amazing ways."

Many activities, including multiple hay rides to a pumpkin patch where children could choose their own pumpkin, were offered for a minimal cost to children and their parents. Other activities included a ball-toss station, pony rides and a rope toss.

For the big kids, there was an adult area where adult beverages were served and caramel apple-eating and pumpkin-smashing contests took place.

Animal lover Susan Easley, 47th Maintenance Directorate, provided entertainment for many by bringing and displaying her many reptilian pets. Her albino Burmese python was a hit among children and adults. The snake was draped around many shoulders as pictures were taken and bravery was tested. Easley's other pets included three rattlesnakes, a Malaysian water monitor, an African spur thigh tortoise, a snapping turtle and a desert king snake among others.

"We are extremely happy with how the fall festival turned out this year," said Ambroson. "We love doing things for the base community and appreciate the fantastic response we get in return."

The LOSC's upcoming events include a wine tasting at Villa Del Rio Bed and Breakfast and they plan to put together care packages for out-of-town college students whose families reside in the area.
