Airman Spotlight: 2nd Lt. Justin Greene

LAUGHLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Pilot training can be a goal people dream of their entire life, and some never see it all the way through. It is understandable that the period of time between being selected for pilot training and actually starting the course could be a time of intense anticipation.
2nd Lt. Justin Greene is currently awaiting pilot training and said he can’t wait for what’s to come.
“I’m a fourth-generation service member in my family,” he said. “My mom was enlisted in the Air Force, her father was in the Army and so was my great-grandfather. But I wouldn’t say I was pushed to serve because I’ve always been about serving.”
A want to serve doesn’t always bring a clear path to how one serves, and Greene is no exception. That changed his sophomore year in the Air Force Academy after he got a ride in an F-15 as part of an incentive program.
“As soon as I got done with that flight I knew I wanted to fly,” he said, laughing. “I want to travel the world, I want to be able to see something new every day and I feel like no matter what you fly you’ll be able to do that.”
Now that he’s on track to kick off his aviation career, he is more excited than ever.
“I want to get started so badly,” he said. “It’s like the calm before the storm, but it’s the storm you want to come.”
