Arbor Day
LAUGHLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Texas – Mackenzie Chapman, of Laughlin’s youth center, helps plant a tree as Lt. Col. John Enyeart, 47th Installation Support Squadron commander, looks on during Arbor Day festivities here April 30. Arbor Day, which originated in the United States in 1872, is a day when people are encouraged to plant and care for trees. For the past 16 years, Laughlin has been recognized as being a Tree City. To be considered a Tree City, a community must have a tree department, a tree-care ordinance, a forestry program and an Arbor Day observance and proclamation.
