  • Laughlin remembers: observing 9/11

    Approximately 230 Airmen gathered at the base flag pole at Laughlin Air Force Base, Texas, Sept. 11, 2019 to pay respects to those who lost their lives during the 9/11 attacks 18 years ago. Displays were arranged in the center of Heritage Park, which represented the first responder emergency services and victims. Specifically, police officers, medical responders, fire fighters and victims were all honored during the ceremony for their heroism and selfless sacrifice.

    All Laughlin members are invited to attend Specialized Undergraduate Pilot Training Classes 19-21 and 19-22’s graduation ceremony at 10 a.m., Aug. 16, 2019, in Anderson Hall, here. Bruno Lozano, Del Rio city mayor and former U.S. Air Force security forces defender, will be the guest speaker. Awards and special recognition will be given to outstanding graduates.

Nathaniel Andrews, 47th Civil Engineer Squadron assistant fire chief, was chosen by wing leadership to be the “XLer” of the week, for the week of July 15, 2019, at Laughlin Air Force Base, Texas. The “XLer” award, presented by Col. Lee Gentile, 47th Flying Training Wing commander and Chief Master Sgt. Ronald Harper, 47th Mission Support Group superintendent, is given to those who consistently make outstanding contributions to their unit and the Laughlin mission.
  • Team XL takes on active shooter exercise

    Laughlin personnel participated in an active shooter training at Laughlin Air Force Base, Texas, July 22, 2019. A simulated suspect barricaded himself in a small room and tested the defenders’ ability to respond to a hostage situation. Exercises like this one are aimed at bolstering crisis readiness and response capabilities.
  • ALS Class 19-E Graduates

    Airman Leadership School Class 19-E graduated after four weeks of training, July 11, 2019, at Goodfellow Air Force Base, Texas. Airman Leadership School is a course designed to give students a better understanding of their role as a supervisor, and is a prerequisite of joining the non-commissioned officer ranks.
