Cactus Lanes Bowling Center plans to reopen early-April after completing its first step of its three phase plan, here.

Bowling center’s renovation is planned out in three phases: installing a larger dining area, expanding the kitchen and providing a reimagined bowling area.

“The project was developed as a kitchen expansion in the early 2000’s,” said Gerri Fischer, the bowling center manager. “When the project started the initial drawing of the concept, it became clear that due to engineering issues the original concept could not be executed.”

At the turn of the century a project plan was proposed. Now, over a decade later in 2014, the bowling center’s renovation plan has solidified and has begun its process of expanding by adding a 990 square foot dining room that can seat 50 people on 12 tables, as the first part of its three phase plan.

Although there are currently no plans to make changes to the menu, the possibility remains open after the kitchen receives its expansion, explained Fischer.

Plans for renovating the bowling sitting area have not been fully developed but will be the final step to the bowling center renovation.

The bowling center’s reopen day will be in early-April, however, the dining room expansion will not be reveal until the grand opening day, which is still not reopened yet.

It’s undetermined when the start of the second and third phase will begin, but the bowling center will close for those renovations as well, noted Fischer.

The final vision is for customers to have an improved experience by being in a more spacious facility with a modern look.

“It benefits everybody because it’s doing a ‘face-lift’ and making it more modern for everyone,” Fischer said. “It’s showing we’re investing the Air Force’s money into keeping the facilities up-to-date.”

“I think that it will benefit everyone on base, to give them something to do,” Fischer said. “A relaxing, fun, quality time with family and friends. Just a place to enjoy Laughlin, instead of going downtown there’s a place where the base community can enjoy here on base.”
