    The Texas Animal Health Commission recently reported that since June 2019, there have been 18 animals that tested positive for anthrax in five Texas counties, one of them in Val Verde County.

    What drives you?

    I have lost count of the number of times I have been asked the question “what drives you to succeed?” When I was young, it was the need to be the best, the need to be no. 1, the need to be praised by friends and family.

    Lt. Gen Webb and CMSgt Gudgel visit Team XL

    Lt. Gen. Brad Webb, commander of Air Education and Training Command (AETC), and Chief Master Sgt. Juliet Gudgel, the Command Chief Master Sergeant of AETC, visit with members of the 47th Flying Training Wing’s senior leadership during an immersion tour Aug. 14, 2019, at Laughlin Air Force Base, Texas.     SUPT classes 19-21, 19-22 set to graduate

    All Laughlin members are invited to attend Specialized Undergraduate Pilot Training Classes 19-21 and 19-22’s graduation ceremony at 10 a.m., Aug. 16, 2019, in Anderson Hall, here. Bruno Lozano, Del Rio city mayor and former U.S. Air Force security forces defender, will be the guest speaker. Awards and special recognition will be given to outstanding graduates.

    XLer of the week: Staff Sgt. Samantha Scheinost

    Staff Sgt. Samantha Scheinost, 47th Operations Support Squadron Host Aviation Resource Management NCO in charge, was chosen by wing leadership to be the “XLer” of the week, for the week of July 29, 2019, at Laughlin Air Force Base, Texas. The “XLer” award, presented by Col. Lee Gentile, 47th Flying Training Wing commander, and Chief Master Sgt. Brian Lewis, 47th Operations Group superintendent, is given to those who consistently make outstanding contributions to their unit and the Laughlin mission.

Christopher Johnson, honor guard NCO in charge, at Laughlin Air Force Base, Texas, enjoys how his special duty continues to broaden his perspective of the U.S. Air Force and his range of experience.     SUPT student soars to commander’s trophy

    Officers from across the country join, for approximately 52 weeks, at Laughlin Air Force Base, Texas, in hopes to one day, wear the rated wings of a United States Air Force pilot. While successfully graduating from the program is the ultimate goal for these students, a select few have the ability to get awarded for their hard work with one of the highest accolades Air Education and Training Command has to offer - Order of Daedalians AETC Commander’s Trophy.
