  • Laughlin Switches Main Gate

    Laughlin’s residents and employees will be making adjustments to their daily commutes after the West Gate closed July 17, 2021 to allow for construction to get underway on several site upgrades on our gate infrastructure. Base access is limited to the North Gate for the duration of the project which is expected to last up to 60 days.
  • Laughlin Heritage Corner July

    July, named by and after Julius Caesar, begins the second half of the year and is often associated with renewal or even second chances. July is also one of the year’s hottest months in the northern hemisphere, and that is true for Laughlin and the surrounding area. Throughout the base’s 79-year history, July has seen Laughlin through heat and change as it continues to be one of the most consistently successful pilot production engines in the world.

  • Juneteenth

    Juneteenth National Independence Day, as of June 17, 2021, was signed into law by President Joe Biden as a federal holiday that recognizes the ending of slavery in the United States. On June 19, 1865, federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas after the surrender of Confederate general Robert E. Lee. During this historical moment, Union general Gordon Granger informed the people of their freedom and the end of the Civil War with the issue of the General Order No. 3.
  • Arrest of tutor

    Yesterday June 17th 2021, there was an arrest of a tutor assigned to the San Felipe Del Rio Consolidated Independent School District’s Roberto “Bobby” Barrera Elementary School, located on Laughlin AFB. We are working closely with the school district and the Department of Homeland Security who is leading the on-going investigation. We have made all of our law enforcement capabilities available to the school district and investigators.

  • How to combat moving shortage through PCS season

    With shortages caused though the Air Force due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so members have had trouble with moving to their next base. From April 15th to, 269 members have gotten counseling and organized moves into or out of Laughlin Air Force Base. The biggest hardship members have are the desired date of moving not being available or mover no-shows. The Traffic Management Office (TMO) has faced some difficulties as well like as last minute entitlements counseling, members not being flexible with dates and the movement window shifting from seven to 14 days.

    An Adrenaline infusing rush, like jumping head-first into icy cold water, that creates an overwhelming sense of nervousness in the pit of my stomach. This is what it felt like the first time I flew in a T-6 Texan II. I soon realized I might have one of the best jobs and office views in the Air Force.
  • Laughlin Airman protect against pandemic in New York

    Laughlin's very own med group deployed to Brooklyn to assist in vaccinating the population. To fight against COVID-19 and help citizens get properly vaccinated in a timely manner to protect the densely populated areas.
