Why he XLed: Edwardo De La Paz certified two newly assigned Airmen to 100-percent task qualification, boosting his shop’s capabilities by 22 percent. De La Paz led the rebuild of four “hangar queen” aircraft, slashing scheduled backlog by more than 16 percent, which was vital to winning the wing’s “Squadron of the Year” award. He completed two supervisor courses, and by applying learned concepts he increased production by 20 percent. De La Paz oversaw the shop’s utilization rate, ensuring 100-percent accuracy of daily reports, preparing his unit for successful manpower studies. De La Paz shined as his shop’s “go-to” supervisor, supporting all three of Laughlin’s aircraft for more than 100 maintenance actions, keeping a 94-percent quality assurance pass rate.
