Why he XLed: U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Jason Black led a three-day marriage retreat for 33 people, while coordinating a $5,300 budget. Black is the sole chaplain assistant at Laughlin Air Force Base, driving the facility overhaul taking place in the chapel, overseeing the renewal of carpet, paint, roofing and the kitchen, all poised for re-opening. He has organized numerous Holy Week and Easter programs, which supported 12 distinct worship services and faith for 721 Airmen and families. Black is key to a student ministry. He has organized four moral seminars, student classes and Blessing of the Wings, equipping 55 Airmen with spiritual fitness tools. Black also managed Laughlin’s National Day of Prayer and Vigil celebration, organizing technical support, uniting 148 members in prayer.
