LAUGHLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Texas—An evening of award-winning music by chart-topping artists kicks off Laughlin’s 47th Anniversary of the 47th Flying Training Wing, at 5 p.m. June 22, 2019 at Laughlin Air Force Base, Texas.

Key performers will be Easton Corbin, a multiple award winner with two number-one singles and key performing artist on Carrie Underwood’s 2016 The Storyteller Tour, and Thompson Square, an internationally renowned country duo with two Top 5 albums and multiple Grammy Award nominations.

For Laughlin officials, hosting an event like this provides military members and families an opportunity to join community partners in an informal setting to celebrate the unwavering relationship the base and community has fostered over the past 72 years.

“We’re really grateful to have such well-known artists come to Laughlin,” said Victoria Barlow, 47th Force Support Squadron community cohesion coordinator. “We couldn’t do it without our volunteers, local sponsors and Air Force Entertainment.”

To join the base’s celebration, the concert would not be complete without the support from Del Rio’s local bands.

Arrowhead and Family Jewels, two Del Rio bands, will be opening ‘Country on the Border’ at 5 p.m.

During pre-concert performances, attendees will have access to various activities.

“Families are a vital resource when it comes to supporting this base,” Barlow said. “Many members have interest in other areas outside of music, so during our planning process, we wanted to provide a variety of attractions like the kid’s zone and car show to ensure members of Team XL have a great time.”

With a full list of activities and with temperatures ranging from lows of 75 degrees to highs of around 100 degrees, attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, hats and sunscreen.
