Another drastic improvement to the quality of Laughlin Airmen's lives has been made here and is now available.

Laughlin's Airman and Family Readiness Center, previously located in the Force Support Squadron building, is now located in the newly-renovated building 468 and now offers a state-of-the-art facility for those in need of their services.

"We support mission readiness by helping in areas including adjusting to the community, job-search skills, volunteering, personal and family deployment support, relocation, financial management, finding the right school and strengthening relationship skills," said Anthony Williams, community readiness consultant for the AFRC. "We offer one-on-one support as well as briefings, classes and trainings."

Active-duty Airmen, reservists, guardsmen, retired military members, civilian government employees and their families all have access to the AFRC.

The new AFRC facility opened Jan. 10 after a ribbon-cutting ceremony and an open house to show off the renovations to building 468, which shares a parking lot with Club XL.

"Wing leadership has allowed us the privilege to move into a wonderful building and has given us the resources to make it a state-of-the-art facility," said Williams.

Colonel Michael Frankel, 47th Flying Training Wing commander, said that the AFRC may not be well known by everyone on base, but can be very beneficial if used properly.

"I don't know if people realize all the services the Airman and Family Readiness Center provides," said Colonel Frankel. "It really is an all-inclusive resource for Airmen and their families."

Williams added that the center is important not only to individual families, but to Laughlin and the Air Force as a whole.

"The AFRC will provide Airmen and their families with quality service through consultation and education so they are mission ready," said Williams.
