Laughlin Air Force Base, Texas -- The Airman & Family Readiness Center held “Operation XL,” a junior deployment for military and local children, ages five to 17, here, Nov. 7.
Operation XL, the “deployment,” covered the three stages of a deployment: pre-deployment, deployment and reintegration.
The mock deployment included various activities such as out-processing with base agencies, learning basic customs and courtesies, obstacle courses and more.
“The goal of the event was to help children relate, in a sense, to what a military member goes through,” said Tech. Sgt. Alana Westley, 47th Force Support Squadron readiness NCO.
