Women's Equality Luncheon

LAUGHLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Texas – Airman 1st Class Christina Gallagher, 47th Contracting Squadron, listens as Maj. David Huber, 47th CONS commander, explains the meaning and tradition behind Women’s Equality Day during the luncheon at Club XL here Aug. 26. Every year Women’s Equality Month is celebrated Aug. 26 to celebrate the passage of the 19th Amendment that allowed women the right to vote. “As we celebrate passage of the 19th Amendment, we should reflect upon this milestone achievement in American history and remember a struggle that crossed three centuries of our nation's history to conquer,” said Major Huber. “Equality in our society is a right for which many have struggled and has no boundaries based on gender, race, religion, color, ethnicity or national origin.”
