LAUGHLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Texas --

Base leadership has directed the change to Health Protection Condition Bravo on Thursday, August 27, 2020. This decision comes after a steady decrease of confirmed COVID-19 cases within the local area over the past 14 days.

“We are taking a deliberate and phased approach,” said Col. Craig Prather, 47th Flying Training Wing commander. “Working with our Public Health experts, we’ll continue to assess criteria, and determine the scale and speed of each phase in order to get our mission done.”

All individuals on DoD property, installations and facilities will continue to wear cloth face coverings when they cannot maintain six feet of physical distance in public areas. Members will continue to telework where able.

In accordance with Air Education and Training Command, and Texas State guidance, all official gatherings held inside Laughlin AFB facilities will not exceed 50 individuals or 50% of the occupancy limitations of the meeting place, whichever is less. The base will continue to follow all local and state guidance, and work closely with community partners in Del Rio and Val Verde County.

“Returning to our workplaces does not mean a return to pre-COVID-19 life,” Prather said. “We all must remain vigilant and guard against complacency while getting our critical mission done of building the world’s best airmen, leaders, and pilots.”
